Kuhn's formaldehyde lamp

A platinized screen (catalyst) is used in the oxidizing chamber. Wood alcohol is the source of the formaldehyde. Patented in 1898 and 1901 by the Kuhn Formaldehyde Generating Co. of Alexandria, Virginia. More complicated to use than simple burners, this device claimed a greater efficiency.
