Edmund Wheeler slides for the Polariscope
A group of 12 slides for the polariscope by Edmund Wheeler. Typical of 1870's Wheeler slides, the backs are covered with yellow paper and the front with gilt red paper with the "EW" logo. An oval label at one end of 10 of the slides reads "For Polariscope". A small circular seller's label on 11 of the slides reads "J.W. Queen & Co., 924 Chesnut St., Philada". The subjects are typical polariscope objects of the time - human corn, crystals of sugar, quinidine, sulphate of magnesia, carbozolate of potash, oxalurate of ammonia, oxysulphuret of antimony, platinocyanide of magnesia, scales from leaf of Eleagnus, pyrogallic acid.
