Edmund Wheeler Microscope slides No.2
A group of 6 slides for the microscope by Edmund Wheeler. Typical of 1870's Wheeler slides, the backs are covered with yellow paper and the front with gilt red paper with the "EW" logo. A small circular seller's label on 5 of the slides reads "J.W. Queen & Co., 924 Chesnut St., Philada". Specimens are foramenifera from Mediterranean Sea, spicules of glass rope sponge, ocean soundings off coast of Malabar, deep sea soundings in the Red Sea, blood discs of Frisen (slide cracked), and shells in chalk from Strood Hill, Kent (slide paper stained).
