An attractive hand water pump with brass hardware, mounted on a heavy wood plank decorated with green and black striping on yellow and a colorful illustration at the top. The iron is black enameled with gold decoration. The pump cylinder is marked “A.Y. McDonald, Dubuque, IA”. The mounting board is 1 3/4” thick, 65” tall x 11 1/2” wide, with cove molded edge. The unusual wood plank is original and necessary, since the pump body and lever mechanism are not otherwise directly connected. There is some water damage at the bottom edge of the wood and some loss of paint on the left side below the air chamber. This is likely a household force pump, but I haven’t found a reference to it in my literature.
