Electro-Magnetic Flesh Brush
The gracefully curved 18" long laminated wood back contains a metal strip (as evidenced by a metal detector and magnet). A paper label reads "Electro-magnetic horse hair flesh brush, manufactured by Furnalds, Champion & Co. New York". About 5% of the hair bristles are missing and there is a small bulge in the outer lamination. An alternating pattern of light and dark strips of hair may indicate corresponding strips of metals if this is a typical dissimilar metals galvanic device. Of course, the hair would insulate the user from any effect.
