Eagle hand sheller and combination tool
A hand sheller combination tool which is based on Middleton's 1876 "Eagle" sheller with the addition of a combination wrench at the opposite end and a hammer head projecting from the stationary sheller jaw. Gilbert apparently just used Middleton's sheller as the starting point for his combination tool. I know of no other connection between Gilbert's Chambersburg company and Middleton's Harrisburg company, except their proximity. The two patents are decades apart, so Gilbert's design patent wouldn't have infringed upon Middleton's prior patent.
This rare hand sheller-combination tool is in fine condition.
