Hand Cranked Paint Grinder

Used for grinding the pigments in house paint, this grinder is perfect for anyone interested in authentic restoration work. The first conical paint grinder patented in the U.S. was that of P. Geiger, in 1812. Others were patented in 1827, 1829 and 1832. The most commonly encountered paint grinder is that of John Berrell, patented in 1860. This is the first early one we have found that is not a Berrell. Seven inch diameter bowl, with five inch hand crank fitted with 2" diameter iron knob. Unmarked and maker unknown.
