Burch's Hand Drill

An odd hand drill employing a helical spring brake instead of a the conventional pawls and ratchet. William C. Burch, of Gloucester, New Jersey received the patent May 26, 1868. 11" long handle, 1/2" square chuck. Cast in the handle is "Bridgeport Mfg Co. Conn." and on the reverse, "Burch's Pat. May 26, 1868". Good working condition. A copy of the patent is included.
